Hall of Fame quarterback Sonny Jurgensen began his career with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he played from 1957 to 1963. Jurgensen began to establish himself as a topflight quarterback in 1961, where he earned his first Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro selections. Jurgensen is widely considered one of the best pure passes to ever play the game. In 1961 Jurgensen led the NFL in completions (235), passing yards (3,723) and touchdown passes (32). His passing yards and touchdown passes were all career highs as he led the Eagles to a 10-4 record. After Jurgensen’s time in Philadelphia that would also include an NFL title, he would move on to the Washington Redskins in 1963, where he earned four more Pro Bowl selections and another First-Team All-Pro. Jurgensen is also in the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame.

Offered here is an incredibly rare late 1950’s early 1960’s Philadelphia Eagles road jersey that was worn by Jurgensen dating the first great years of his Hall of Fame career. This jersey has been dated to the 1957-1961 seasons. This white Dureen jersey has Jurgensen’s number “9” sewn on the front, back and upper sleeves in green tackle twill. The jersey has ¾-length sleeves with two green stripes below the number. There is a crotch strap that is still intact and the MacGregor size 44 tag and wash instructions tag are sewn on the top of the crotch strap between the first and second buttons. An amazing jersey from his rookie year of 1957 to his career year of 1961. The jersey displays moderate game use and comes with a LOA from MEARS (301077) for the game use, who have graded this jersey its highest grade of A10.
