From 1920 to his death in 1948, no athlete in the world was more recognizable than Babe Ruth. Wherever he went - theaters, restaurants, train stations - the great man was inundated with requests for his autograph. While many athletes today look at signing an autograph as a chore and bother, Ruth felt otherwise. To him, his flawless script on a ball or piece of paper was the least he could do to make a fan happy or bring a smile to a little boy’s face. To him, it just was part of being Babe Ruth. The legend of The Babe, which has only grown over the years, has made a Babe Ruth signed baseball one of the most sought-after sports collectibles. The Babe has penned his instantly recognizable signature on the sweet spot on this baseball. His signature has been written in a black fountain pen. Some of Ruth’s signature has faded, including part of the capital “B”, but the distinctive “R” in Ruth is still clear, along with the rest of his signature. This comes with a LOA from JSA.
