This 1930s table-top classic allows the player a full inning "at bat" for just one penny. With each drop of a coin, the "batter" is afforded the opportunity to "hit" three pellets, and each try results in either a sacrifice fly, a single, double, triple, home run, or an out. (Three outs, and the game's over.) The top portion of the piece displays the image of a playing field with three miniature "pop-out" ballplayer figurines situated at first, second and third base. The game has an 8.5-inch base and is 17 inches high and 9.5 inches wide. Also featured at the playing field motif are three dials, two of which tally the score, and one that keeps track of the innings. Despite conceding some signs of aging's effects, the prime components of this nearly hundred-year-old relic appear to be in working condition, and the piece still possesses an alluring vintage aesthetic. Here's an early coin-operated baseball game that's as much fun to look at as it is to play!
