After spending the first eight of his professional seasons with the New York Yankees, Bobby Murcer was traded to the San Francisco Giants for Bobby Bonds following the 1974 season. Murcer had a solid debut season with the Giants as he batted .298, had 11 home runs and drove 98. Murcer was 6th in the National League in 1976 with 23 home runs and was voted Giants MVP for his 10-game winning RBI and leading the club in steals.
