One of the greatest hockey players of all time, “Mr. Hockey,” Gordie Howe played in the NHL for an incredible 26 seasons in the NHL spanning from his rookie season in 1946-47 with the Detroit Red Wings to his final and lone season with the Hartford Whalers in 1979-80. Howe retired as the all-time leading scorer in NHL history and was the idol of the current all-time leading scorer Wayne Gretzky. Offered here are a pair items worn by “Mr. Hockey” himself during the 2009 Winter Classic. The site of the game was historic Wrigley Field in Chicago and pitted division rivals the Chicago Blackhawks against the Detroit Red Wings. The first of the two items is an off-white Blake & Hollister polo shirt that has the “2009 Winter CLASSIC WRIGLEY FIELD” logo patch on the upper left chest and “Mr. Hockey ®” embroidered in gray on the upper right chest. The second item in this lot is a black snap-button front jacket with “HOCKEY…Here’s Howe! INTERNATIONAL HOCKEY SCHOOLS” printed in red on the upper left chest and in large red print on the back. The jacket was made by XPRES WEAR and is a size XL. These items come with a LOA from the Howe family.
