Before Chipper Jones and Bob Horner, the Braves hot corner was controlled by Hall of Famer Eddie Mathews. For nine consecutive seasons, Mathews hit 30 or more home runs, ending his career with 512. He plated 1,453 runners, hit .271, and made 12 All-Star teams and two World Series champions. His number "41" has been retired by the Braves. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1978. This pristine, ash, 34-inch, Adirondack bat bears the career highlights of Braves, Astros and Tigers third sacker Mathews engraved in gold on a black plaque bolted to the sweet spot on the barrel. Mathews boldly signed his name on the barrel's header, between "Big Stick" and "PERSONAL MODEL" . A COA from PSA/DNA (#U69512) accompanies this item.
