All-time hits leader Pete Rose spent his penultimate season with the Cincinnati Reds as their manager in 1988 where he guided the club to a 75-51 record. The 1963 National League Rookie of the Year and 1973 NL MVP was famously suspended for 30 games by then National League President A. Bartlett Giamatti for shoving umpire Dave Pallone after a heated argument during the April 30th game against the New York Mets. Rose would finish his managerial career with a 412-373 record.

Offered here is a Cincinnati Reds batting helmet worn by Pete Rose circa 1988. This hat is all-red and made by American Baseball Cap (ABC). This high impact plastic helmet is a size 7 3/8 and features the Reds wishbone “C” logo affixed to the front in white. The back has “ROSE” in white on red Dyno tape below the ABC logo in white. The inside of this helmet has a padded inner lining and “14” is handwritten in black marker on the inside crown. This helmet displays excellent game use and Rose has signed this helmet in black marker on the brim, inscribing “4,356” his career hit total. This helmet comes with a LOA from J.T. Sports for the use and a LOA from JSA (Z76364) for Rose’s signature.
