President of the United States Gerald Ford has signed and heavily inscribed this portrait of his predecessor Abraham Lincoln. Ford signed this portrait in 1995, just under two decades after the Republican Party politician left the highest office in the land. Ford inscribed on this portrait, “Abraham Lincoln, before and during, my political career was an idol and special inspiration. His Civil War problems in many ways were similar to mine with the horrors of Watergate and the Tragedy of Vietnam”. Ford has signed the portrait below his inscription, adding “2/6/95” in addition to his signature. The signature and inscriptions have been written in black marker. This item comes with a LOA from JSA.
