The legendary MLB career of New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter came to an end on September 28th, 2014, as the Yankees finished their season with a 9-5 win over the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Jeter started the game at designated hitter, lining out in his first at-bat and collecting an RBI single, scoring Ichiro Suzuki, off Clay Buchholz in his second time at the plate. This was Jeter’s 3,465th hit and 1,311th RBI. Jeter was substituted for a pinch runner after his RBI single. The legendary Yankee shortstop was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2020.
