Houston Astros rookie sensation Yordan Alvarez wore this white Players Weekend alternate jersey for three games in August of the 2019 MLB season. Alvarez, the 2019 American League Rookie of the Year, wore this button-down jersey on August 23rd, 24th, and 25th against the Los Angeles Angels at Minute Maid Park. Although Alvarez did not take the field on the 23rd, he went 1-4 with a double as the Astros eased to a 5-2 win behind a strong start from Wade Miley on the 24th. On the 25th, Alvarez finished with two walks, two runs, and an RBI in Houston’s dominant 11-2 win over their division foes.
Alvarez uncorked his record-breaking power over the course of the 2019 season, finishing the year with 27 homers, 78 RBI, and a .313 batting average in 87 games. The Cuban revelation is seen as a key member of Houston’s young core alongside Alex Bregman and Carlos Correa.
This offered Players Weekend alternate jersey is white, with “ASTROS” sewn across the chest in white and gray tackle twill. “YORDAN” is sewn across the back shoulders in gray tackle twill, while his number “44” is sewn below in white and gray tackle twill. An MLB logo patch is sewn on the back outside collar and a Majestic size “48” tag is applied to the front left tail.
