New York Mets rookie sensation Pete Alonso used this bat during the July 20th and 21st games at Oracle Park in San Francisco. Alonso came in as a pinch-hitter in the July 20th game and in his lone at-bat, belted a 3-run home run to center field off Giants’ pitcher Derek Holland. It was Alonso’s 33rd home run of the season as he would set an all-time rookie record for home runs (53). This bat was broken in anger by Alonso when he snapped it over his knee (see images from Sports Investors LOA). The barrel shows several distinctive ball marks that include leather ball scuffs and ink transfers. There are abrasions from contact with other equipment and cleat marks present. The ax handle has a Schutte sticker with Alonso’s number “20” affixed. The handle has the remains of a spiral of adhesive tape and a heavy coat of pine tar applied. Alonso has signed his name in silver marker on the barrel, inscribing “20”, “Game Used 2019 ROY season” and “All-time rookie HR REC”. This bat has been photo matched by Sports Investors Authentication (200529F1), who have provided a LOA and comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JC242660) for the Alonso’s signature and inscriptions. Additionally, there is a COA from Fanatics (AA0045324) signed by Alonso, which authenticates the game use.
