Uruguayan soccer icon Alcides Ghiggia was presented with this FIFA commemorative medal to honor the 75th Anniversary of the inaugural 1930 FIFA World Cup in Uruguay. Ghiggia, a World Cup champion in 1950 with la celeste, earned 12 caps and scored four goals for Uruguay, with an additional five appearances and one goal for the Italian National Soccer Team. This offered medal is gold in color, with an etching of the Jules Rimet Trophy and “1930-2005” present on the front. Etched on the back in high relief is “75[th] Anniversario / De La / 1A Copa Mundial / De La FIFA / En Uruguay / En 1930”. The medal comes in the original blue presentation box. This item comes with a LOA confirming it is part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
