At the conclusion of the 20th Century, Ken Griffey, Jr. was acknowledged as one of the greatest ballplayers of the entire century. In 1999 he was not only given the Players Choice Awards Player of the Decade honors (picked by the players) but was named to the ulra-exclusive MLB All-Century Team where he took his place among baseball’s immortals.

1999 was also the last season in Seattle in his first stint with the ball club, where he combined to hit 398 home runs in his first 11 seasons and was the 1997 American League MVP. Griffey would finish his career back in Seattle after stints with the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox and hit 630 home runs, which is seventh on the all-time list behind Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Alex Rodriguez, Willie Mays and Albert Pujols.

This outstanding game used bat was the one Junior used in the July 27, 1999 game against the Kansas City Royals to hit his 33rd home run of the year and the 383rd of his career. The solo blast came in the top of the 9th off Ken Ray – solo shot to deep center field. Griffey’s Louisville Slugger C271 model bat is un-cracked and shows outstanding use. There are ball marks and stitch impressions cover the barrel along with blue ink transfers and white leather ball scuffs. The handle has been taped to 7 ¼” in a criss-cross pattern to enhance the grip and the Hall of Famer has signed the barrel in silver marker with “HR 33 99.”PSA/DNA (1B19098) for the game use and has been given the highest graded of GU 10. There is also a LOA from PSA/DNA (S14884) for Griffey’s signature.
