As Pete Rose was getting close to surpassing Ty Cobb as the all-time career leader in hits, bat manufacturer Hillerich & Bradsby asked Rose to use their bats for the record-breaking hit. Hillerich & Bradsby produced a number of new Ty Cobb model C28's bats for Rose to use after he broke an original Cobb gamer bat in batting practice. However, Rose was under contract with Mizuno at the time he broke the cherished record and did not use one of these special Cobb models. This offered special Pete Rose/Ty Cobb model C28 bat shows no evidence of game use. The Hit King has signed the barrel in blue marker with the inscription "To Berto My Good Buddy Best Wishes Always". This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18239) for the game ready status and a STICKER ONLY from PSA/DNA (V73131) for Rose’s signature.
