Although Reggie Jackson was the self-proclaimed “Straw that stirred the drink”, Thurman Munson was the heart and soul of those late 1970s New York Yankees World Series Championship teams. Named the first Yankee caption since Lou Gehrig, Munson tragically died in a 1979 plane crash. What few single signed baseballs were penned by Munson, there is certainly not enough to satisfy the demand for his signature. This creamy-white Official American League Lee Mac Phail baseball has a very bold “Thurman Munson” blue ink signature perfectly placed across the sweet spot. The ball exhibits light toning and the red stitching attractively frames the beautiful signature. This single-signed Thurman Munson ball comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (H56516) which grades the autograph a NM-MT 8, the ball a NM 7 for an overall graded of NM+ 7.5.
