The 1934 season was a pivotal one for the New York Yankees as it marked the last season in which Babe Ruth would wear the famed pinstripes. Under the management of Joe McCarthy, who was entering his fourth season as manager, the Yankees would battle for the pennant against the mighty Detroit Tigers. Behind the awesome combination of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Tony Lazzeri representing the old guard and young Turks Ben Chapman, Lefty Gomez and Frank Crosetti. This volatile mix of old and young won 94 games, finishing in second place behind the 101-win pennant-winning Tigers.

Offered here is a National Practice stamped ball that has been signed by 13 members of the 1934 New York Yankees. Babe Ruth’s distinctive and highly sought after signature is in penned in bold black ink across the sweet spot. Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig signed his name on the panel with the “NO. 47 HORSE HIDE COVER 9 INCH 5 OZ RUBBER CENTER” stamp, along with the signatures of Harry Smythe. The panel with the “GoldSmith CINCINNATI U.S.A.” stamp has the signatures of Russ Van Atta, Lyn Lary, Vito Tamulis and Floyd Newkirk. Another panel has Hall of Famers Earle Combs and Joe McCarthy, along with Joe Sewell and Samuel Byrd. The final panel has the signatures of Hall of Famers Lefty Gomez and Tony Lazzeri, along with an inscription that reads “4-11-34”. This ball displays minor toning with the signatures and stampings clear. This comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA.
