Only the great Ted Williams could put on his Red Sox uniform, grab a bat and hit a home run in his first game after returning from combat flying in Korea, yet that's exactly what he did. In August of 1953, Williams got his discharge and within two weeks, was back in the Boston lineup. This bat was ordered by Williams in 1953 for the tail end of the season after his triumphant return to the game. The Kid's Hillerich & Bradsby W166 bat is uncracked and has been made game-ready with only minimal barrel scuffing. Model number "W166" is stamped into the knob end as is his famed number "9", hand written on the knob. The king of Sluggers has signed this nearly mint bat in black marker on the barrel below his facsimile signature and "LOUISVILLE SLUGGER" stamping. You won't find a fresher-looking, game-ready bat from Williams' prime years as nice and complete as this example. Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
