The Boston Red Sox held their first strictly Red Sox greats Old Timers Day in 1982, and this was the first time Ted Williams donned the Red Sox home uniform. He played his last "game" two years later in 1984, wearing his famed No. 9 for the final time as a member of the "Williams" team, which opposed the "Yastrzemski" team. Teddy Ballgame used this exact bat for his last ever hit during that Old Timers Game. This 35-inch, 31-ounce "W183" signature model "Ted Williams" bat, has light evidence of use with multiple rack marks, and a few ball marks including stitch impressions and white scuff marks. The knob features Williams' famous "9" in black marker and is stamped "W183" for the model number. The Kid signed just below the facsimile signature "Used May 27 - 1984 Ted Williams Last Hit" and was given directly to our consignor after the game. Our consignor is directly quoted in the new Williams autobiography currently out, and was friends with Williams for over 40 years. Full LOA from PSA/DNA, cert number U06205 for the signature, and Full LOA from PSA/DNA, cert number 1B05856 for the bat. This is a one-of-a-kind bat, used by Ted Williams for his last ever hit in a Boston Red Sox uniform.
