When Brad Pitt was cast as Billy Beane in the screen adaptation of Greg Lewis’ “Moneyball,” the sports world went atwitter. Beefcake Pitt was taking on a less-than-glorious role of a baseball G.M. ready to upset the status quo in MLB. This September 26, 2011 edition of SI captures a close-up color photograph of Pitt wearing an Oakland A’s cap. Titled “The New Moneyball,” the cover highlights the articles attending to the then-recently released movie “Moneyball,” a cinematic version of Oakland A’s G.M. Billy Beane’s methods to draft good baseball players for bargain prices. Pitt signed boldly in vivid black Sharpie below his image’s jaw (grade 10). The signature has been authenticated with an LOA from James Spence Authenticators (#H64220).
