This June 29, 1962 edition, titled, "U.S. Open Champ Jack Nicklaus" captures the 22-year-old "Golden Bear" in color illustration, just after winning his first major championship and his first professional win, the 1962 U.S. Open. The victory over Arnold Palmer at the Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania also ignited a rivalry between the two golfers that would continue for their entire careers. Nicklaus boldly signed in vivid black Sharpie atop the image's right shoulder (grade 10). A COA from PSA/DNA (#F96074) accompanies this item and authenticates the autograph.
