In the first of their two classic bouts, Gene Fullmer defeated Carmen Basillo with a TKO in the 14th round of a brutal bout to capture the vacant National Boxing Association Middleweight crown on August 28, 1959. Fullmer defended his title with 12-round TKO of Basillo 10 months later on June 29, 1960. This 16” x 20” classic image set in a 21” x 25.5” frame captures Fullmer in the black trunks landing a solid right hand to the upper body of Basillo in the white trunks. Taken during the first bout, it is signed by both fighters in bold silver Sharpie and comes with JSA COA #C24086.
