Fascinating look into the finances of the Philadelphia Phillies professional baseball club, the first page of this National 94-444 Virgin Vinyl, hard-bound ledger lists $8,187,640.90 in the Debits and Credits columns noting that the funds had been “TRANSFERRED TO SALE OF CLUB ACT,” stamped at the bottom of every page of the book. The Phillies ownership had changed hands from Robert R.M. Carpenter III to William Giles prior to the 1981 season. This volume contains any and all transactions made by the Phillies organization during Giles’ first year as owner of the club.
