After 39 years in their previous Busch Memorial Stadium home, the St. Louis Cardinals moved into the third ballpark to carry the Busch Stadium name in time for Opening Day 2006. The Cardinals have drawn more than 3 million fans every year since moving into “Busch III,” averaging more than 40,000 fans per-game, while finishing higher than fourth among the NL’s 16 teams every year since 2006. This commemorative TPX MLB, Louisville Slugger Genuine model C243, 36” St. Louis Cardinals shovel-bat was made for the new Busch Stadium official groundbreaking ceremony on January 14, 2004 and comes with a “New Ballpark Groundbreaking, Jan. 17, 2004” 27-inch across, circular press-board sign adorned with the Cardinals classic redbird logo perched on a shovel bat containing a Busch Stadium COA (Busch-05-1821) and Schneider Industries Inc. Lot No. 391 (1 of 2) tag. The shovel and sign combo make for a nice pair of Stadium paraphernalia sure to be of increasingly nostalgic interest as the years transpire for the Cardinals in their beautiful new ballpark by the banks of the Mississippi River.
