This was the inaugural AFL Championship game, which saw the Houston Oilers beat the Los Angeles Chargers 24-16. Quarterback and NFL Hall of Famer George Blanda led the Oilers throwing two touchdown passes. This ring was presented to Lou Witt, who was the Houston Chronicle photographer assigned to the Houston Oilers. The face has a large blue stone (slightly nicked), with “AFL CHAMPIONS” on the perimeter. One side has “L. WITT,” with the Houston helmet, a football and “AFL.” The other side has “HOUSTON OILERS,” the AFL logo and the year “1960.” This Balfour manufactured ring is engraved “Lou Witt” and Balfour 10K” within the band. Ring is in very good condition, with light chips on the blue stone and some wear evident along the band.
