At the height of his popularity Pete Rose was a spokesperson and endorser for Jockey Underwear, Grecian Formula, Kool Aid and Wheaties, but he was of course primarily associated with baseball. This seven-page collection regarding Rose’s endorsement of the Pete Rose Bat’N Ball toys, includes two letters sent by the HG Toy company to Ann Smith, who represented Rose for The Professionals Inc. agency in Cincinnati; the first dated September 29, 1978 also included stats (copy proofs) of artwork used in the packaging of the Pete Rose Baseball, Bat ‘n Ball, and Autographed Baseballs. A second letter dated October 24, 1978 is a request for Pete to sign a signature sheet in wide-tipped pen in various sizes. The sheet includes four original Pete Rose signatures in bold black Sharpie as well as seven more facsimile signatures. The PSA/DNA pre-certified package also includes an 8.5” x 11” color print of the photo of Rose used in the toy’s packaging and a letter written by Ann Smith to Mr. Irwin Sherman of Woodland Hills, California requesting payment for a photographer.
