As was the case during the Vietnam war, occasionally Major League baseball players were called upon to boost the morale of military men fighting in the jungle. This set of three PSA/DNA pre-certified, signed B/W photos taken during a State Department sponsored trip Rose made to Vietnam with Joe DiMaggio, Ernie Banks and Lefty Gomez and New York Yankees PR Director Bob Fischel in 1967. The first photo is of Rose and DiMaggio and two others standing in front of a helicopter and is signed in bold blue Sharpie by both Rose and Dimaggio. A caption on the back identifies Rose and DiMaggio as well Brigadier General William O. Desobry and New York Yankees PR Director Bob Fischel. The second photo is of Rose manning a machine gun on a boat also signed by Rose in clearly legible bright blue Sharpie; the third is of Rose with four unidentified Vietnamese women and is again signed in bright blue Sharpie. Humorous anecdotes about the time Rose and DiMaggio spent together in Vietnam can be found all over the internet.
