“Charlie Hustle” was living what appeared to be the normal life of a Major League ballplayer in the 1960s. This set of Pete Rose personal items includes a stub from a checkbook ledger recording six transactions: check #9 dated May 22, 1963, made out to the Steiner Company in the amount of $39.96 for pants, check #10 for $10 on May 24, made out to a publishing company and listed as a book payment, check #11 on May 30 to George Drake Photo in the amount of $15.00 for pictures, check #12 on June 1, in the amount of $59.30 to C. English Insurance Agency for insurance, check #13 on June 4, in the amount of $104.64 for car payment and check #14 on June 5, made out to “cash” for “money.” Other items in the set include a 1966 Rosie Reds, Inc. (Rooters Organized to Stimulate Interest and Enthusiasm in the Cincinnati Reds) membership card in the name of Mrs. Rose, as well as Pete and Karolyn Rose 1968 Identification Cards for The Major League Baseball Players Benefit Plan. The final piece is a State Farm proof-of-auto insurance card effective Sep-01-84, Named Insured Rose, Pete.
