Hall of Famer Cal Ripken had his breakout season in 1983 when he not only took home the American League MVP with his stellar season in which he led the AL with 211 hits and 121 runs scored, but also led the Baltimore Orioles to a World Series title. Ripken also belted 27 home runs and drove in 102 runs, while maintaining a lofty .318 average and earned his first of his 19 consecutive All-Star Game selections. Ripken wore this multi-colored Baltimore Orioles’ cap during the 1983 season. This New Era size 7 3/8 wool cap has a six-panel crown with the front white and the back black. The Orioles early 1980’s logo is embroidered on the front in orange, black and white stitching and the brim is orange. The underside brim is green and has Ripken’s number “8” handwritten in black marker, along with “1983”. This hat displays heavy game use with numerous sweat stains on the outside crown and underside brim, along with soil and dirt stains throughout. The New Era and MLB Official Licensee tags are sewn on the inside sweat band, along with a faded “7 3/8” flag. Ripken has signed his name in black marker on the top brim. This comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany this hat.
