The mid-1980's were the "sweet spot" of Cal Ripken, Jr's career. Already established as a Big-League star, Ripken proceeded to display the unstoppable work ethic that defined his career. It was during this period that Ripken's streak of consecutive games played was first noted and it was a stretch in which he was coming off of the 1982 American League Rookie of the Year and 1983 AL MVP and World Series title. The 1986 season was the fourth season in row where Ripken won the Silver Slugger Award as the Hall of Famer produced 25 home runs and 81 RBI.

Offered here is a full home uniform set (jersey, pants and socks) that were worn by Ripken during the 1986 season. The size 46 Rawlings button-down jersey has “Orioles” and Ripken’s number “8” sewn on the front in orange and black tackle twill. The Rawlings tag with the “SET 1 1986” flag is sewn on the inside front left tail. The back of this jersey has “RIPKEN” sewn on in orange and black tackle twill on a matching white nameplate and his number “8” sewn on in orange and black tackle twill. The sleeves are capped with black, white and orange stripes made of an expandable knit material. Ripken has signed his name in black marker on chest, below the “Ori”.

The matching white pants were also made by Rawlings and are a size 38. The sides have orange, white and black stripes and the waist has an expandable black, white and orange stripe with two snap buttons. The Rawlings size 38 tag is sewn on the inside waistline and a white patch with “8” is sewn next to the Rawlings tag. The final item in this lot are a pair of matching orange stirrup socks. All of these items display light to moderate game use and come directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. A signed LOA from Cal will accompany these items.
