Played at Anaheim Stadium in southern California, the 1989 Major League All-Star Game saw the American League defeat the National League 5-3. The game was highlighted by the back-to-back home runs by Bo Jackson of Kansas City and Hall of Famer Wade Boggs of the Red Sox to jumpstart the AL offense. Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. was selected to his seventh straight All-Star Game and was the starting shortstop for the AL. Ripken went 1-for-3 with a double off Expos pitcher Tim Burke in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Presented here is the very home white Orioles button-down jersey worn by Ripken during the 1989 All-Star Game. This jersey has been photo matched by Sports Investors Authentication to the July 11th, 1989 All-Star Game in Anaheim. This jersey was made by Rawlings and is a size 46. “Orioles” and a paraph, along with Ripken’s number “8” is sewn on the front in orange and black tackle twill. The Rawlings size 46 tag with a “SET 1 1989” flag is sewn on the front left tail. The back of this jersey has “RIPKEN” sewn on in orange and black tackle twill on a matching white nameplate with Ripken’s number “8” sewn on below in the same orange and black tackle twill. The sleeves are capped with black/orange/black stripes and the left sleeve has the “1989 ALL-STAR GAME CALIFORNIA ANGELS” patch. This jersey displays heavy game use with numerous stains. Ripken has signed his name in black marker below his number on the front and a green plaque from the Ripken Museum that reads “UNIFORM SHIRT, 1989 All-Star Game, worn by Cal Ripken, Jr. 96.2.14.” comes with this jersey. This jersey comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany this item. This jersey also comes with a LOA from Sports Investors Authentication, who have photo matched this jersey to the 1989 All-Star Game played on July 11th, 1989.
