Hall of Famer and baseball’s Iron Man Cal Ripken, Jr. used this offered Louisville Slugger P72 model bat for the final time during the May 5th, 1997 game against the Anaheim Angels at Camden Yards. Ripken broke this bat during his third at-bat of the game when he popped out to shortstop in the bottom of the 6th inning. This bat displays outstanding game use and has a crack on the handle. There are ball marks, blue ink transfers and cleat imprints present on the barrel. There is a light coating of pine tar on the lower barrel and Ripken added a piece of athletic tape wrapped around the crack on the upper handle that reads “5-5-97 vs Angels 3rd AB”. Ripken has signed this bat in silver marker on the barrel. This bat comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany this bat. Additionally, there is a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B19724) for the game use and has been given a very high grade of GU 9.5.
