Cal Ripken, Jr. surpassed that other great Baltimore infielder, Brooks Robinson, for team career hits on August 21, 1998. In the game against Cleveland, Cal hit an infield single off Jaret Wright in the seventh inning, passing Brooks’ record of 2,848 Orioles career hits. Offered here is the very ball Ripken hit to set the Baltimore Orioles hit record. This ball is an Official American League Gene A. Budig stamped baseball that displays outstanding game use. Ripken has signed his name in blue pen on the north panel with “Oriole Record Hits” handwritten in blue pen on the sweet spot and “Single vs Cleveland AT Camden Yards August 21, 98” handwritten on the south panel. A great piece of baseball history that comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. with a signed LOA from Cal that will accompany this historic item.
