Cal Ripken, Jr. said goodbye to Baltimore’s Memorial Stadium by recording his finest season in the old ballpark. The Orioles icon belted 34 home runs with a .323 average while claiming his first Gold Glove Award. In that summer’s All-Star Game, Cal went 2-for-3 with a 3-run homer that earned him the game’s MVP Award. By the end of the season, it was only natural that the O’s Iron Man should have the AL’s MVP Award bestowed upon him as well, the second such honor of his Hall of Fame-bound career. This offered Official American League Bobby Brown stamped baseball was the very ball hist by Ripken for this 30th home run of the 1991 season. 1991 was the only season in which Ripken hit more than 30 home runs. Ripken’s blast came off of Boston Red Sox pitcher Mike Gardiner in the top of the 6th inning at Fenway Park in Boston. This ball displays outstanding use with abrasion and dirt marks. Ripken has signed his name in blue pen across the sweet spot and the south panel has the inscriptions “HR #30 Sept 18, 1991 Gardiner At Boston”. This ball comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA will accompany this baseball.
