Hall of Famer and baseball’s Iron Man Cal Ripken, Jr. used this Louisville Slugger P72 model bat during the August 21st, 2001 game against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in Tampa. Ripken broke this bat while grounding out to third base off of Tampa’s Paul Wilson in the top of the fourth inning, which was his second at-bat of the game. 2001 was the final season in Ripken’s legendary career, where he finished with 3,184 hits, 431 home runs and the unbreakable streak of 2,632 consecutive games played.

This bat displays outstanding game use and has a crack on the handle. There are ball marks, stitch impressions, white leather scuffs and blue ink transfers. Ripken has added white athletic tape that wraps around the barrel towards the top and has handwritten in blue pen “Broken 8-21-2001 2nd AB vs Wilson Tampa”. This bat comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany this bat. There is also a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B24160) for the game use and has been given a very high grade of GU 9.5.
