For the second time in his Hall of Fame career, Cal Ripken, Jr. was named the American League MVP. Ripken earned his 2nd MVP award following the 1991 season where he had a career-highs in home runs with 34 home runs and in RBI with 114 as he also hit for a lofty .323 average. To honor Ripken for his accomplishment, the city of Baltimore honored Ripken with an Executive Order from mayor Kurt Schmoke that declared November 25, 1991 “Cal Ripken, Jr. Day” in Baltimore. This 8 ½ x 11 ½-inch tan paper has the gold Baltimore seal affixed to the lower left corner and has been signed by the then-Mayor Kurt Schmoke in black pen on the “Mayor” line. This executive order has been adhered to a 10 x 13 black cardboard backing and is in excellent condition. This comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany this item.
