Presented is a 1955 Tom Gola Chuck Taylor All-American Selection plaque presented to the LaSalle College standout. The 8 x 11-inch plaque includes a laminated white paper certificate on a brown particle board with an easel on the back. The certificate, printed in blue, black and gold, has the legend “’Chuck’ Taylor All-American Selection This certifies that Thomas Gola La Salle College was selected to the Converse All-American Basketball Team for 1955 (signed) Chuck Taylor Compiler of the Converse All-American Basketball Poll”. Other first team selections by Taylor and Converse included Sihugo Green (Duquesne), William Russell (San Francisco), Richard Wilkinson (Virginia) and Charles Mencel (Minnesota). After previously helping the Explorers win the 1952 NIT National Championship and the 1954 NCAA National Championship, and selected as the MVP at both tournaments, as a senior, Gola helped La Salle finish as the runner-up in the 1955 NCAA Tournament.
