When this game was played at Yale Gymnasium in 1900, the sport of “basket ball” was less than a decade old. Embraced by colleges and universities, the new game quickly became all the rage as teams sprung up virtually overnight. This quaint letterpress ticket is printed on a light blue stock and admitted the bearer to a game between the Yale and Columbia University freshmen teams. The original owner diligently marked the final score (Yale 16 - Columbia 1) on the front of the ticket. The front of the ticket is in very good condition and the back has some discoloring, probably from being carefully pasted in a scrapbook. A very attractive and important piece from the earliest days of college basketball.
