One of the most popular players of the 1970's, Rod Carew was a virtual hitting machine. While many stars of the game's past are remembered in black and white or sepia tones, Carew's Hall of Fame career fell during baseball's Technicolor era of the double-knits. This '78 Carew jersey is the perfect example: the powder blue Wilson knit pullover shows moderate wear, and the unmistakable 70's colors are bold and bright. Front features the "Twins" script in navy and red tackle twill with Carew's famous "29" in the same colors below. The V-neck collar and sleeve ends are ringed with red, white and navy ribbing and the left sleeve sports the classic Minneapolis-St. Paul players shaking hands patch. Back has "CAREW" in tall red tackle twill letters and "29" in red and navy tackle twill. The front left tail of the jersey carries the Wilson size 42 label and a white strip tag inside the collar marks the year "78" and set "1". This is one of the most iconic 1970's style jerseys and is directly attributed to one of the era's biggest and most popular stars. Letter of Authenticity from MEARS who have awarded this beauty their highest grade of A10.
