Dave Winfield was a tremendous athlete who was drafted by four different professional teams in three separate sports, eventually deciding on baseball and becoming a first ballot Hall of Famer. Based upon factory order records, the labeling period and player use characteristics, this bat was produced and used by Winfield during the 1985 season, the prime of his New York Yankee playing career. This un-cracked 35.25 inch, 34 ounce W273 signature model bat has "Dave Winfield" scripted on the barrel with the "W273" model number above. This bat exhibits tremendous game use with multiple ball and stitch marks including blue ink transfers, plus several rack marks. The handle is taped in a 15-inch long spiral pattern enhanced with a heavy coating of pine tar, a definitive trademark of Winfield game used bats. All stampings are bold and deeply burned, and just below the barrel label is a silver Sharpie "Dave Winfield '85" signature. Full LOA from PSA/DNA, cert number D63050, graded PSA GU 10; one of the finest Winfield bats available, and used during his tumultuous Yankee tenure. Multiple images and LOAs available at goldinauctions.com.
