Tony Gwynn was one of the premiere hitters during his time, banging out 3,141 hits and winning 8 National League batting titles including a high of .394 during the 1994 season. Based upon factory order records, the labeling period and player use characteristics, it was during that season Gwynn might have used this un-cracked 32.5 inch, 31 ounce, Louisville Slugger C263 signature model bat. This bat exhibits tremendous game use with ball and stitch marks on barrel, including several blue ink transfers, various cleat and rack markings. The handle has a several inch are of tape, and a nice application of pine tar. Gwynn's number "19", dimensions "32-1/2-31" and model number "C263" are written on the knob in black marker, with the number and model number on the top barrel. All factory burn stampings are dark and bold, and above the barrel label is a black sharpie "Tony Gwynn" signature. This is a bat ordered by Gwynn during the 1993-1994 labeling period, and might have been used by Gwynn during his greatest season when he bid to reach the magical .400 mark. Full LOA from PSA/DNA, cert number D63049, graded PSA GU 10 (for the bat). PSA was unable to authenticate the signature. Multiple images and LOA available at goldinauctions.com.
