Highly desirable first day cover celebrating the opening dedication of the new Hall of Fame, with an illustration of Abner Doubleday and postmarked "June 12, 1939" in "Cooperstown, N.Y." Above Doubleday’s portrait is a very bold, black "Connie Mack" fountain pen signature. Mack’s autograph on this first day cover is noteworthy as the Athletics’ owner and manager was one of the original inductees of the Hall of Fame in 1936, and the date of the cancellation is the exact date of the Hall of Fame building dedication. The cover has a beatuful, slightly-aged patina tone and exhibits the usual light wrinkling, none of which affect the MINT signature. Graded by PSA/DNA as MINT 9.
