Denny Sommers spent two seasons as bullpen coach for the New York Mets in 1977-78, and was one of the first people to coach for Joe Torre during his managerial career. This white with blue pinstripes, button-down game used home jersey features "Mets" across the chest, with his number "51" on the front and reverse sides in blue-on-orange tackle twill. The front tail of the jersey features a red "Rawlings 46" manufacturers size patch with attached "Set 1 1977" tag. Inside the collar is a white strip tag, chain-stitched in blue thread reading "46 77 51" indicating the jersey's size, year and Sommers' number. A large Mets logo patch appears on the left sleeve of the jersey. The jersey exhibits evidence of heavy game use, which appears to be original tobacco stains down the front of the piece.
