William Heffelfinger was the first great football superstar, leading Yale to tremendous seasons back in the late 1880s. "Pudge" was regarded as the greatest player of his generation and first ever paid "professional" player. This lot includes two items relating to this great player. 1) BOOK - a 1954 First Edition of "This Was Football" as told by Heffelfinger to John McCallum. Includes many early photos of Heffelfinger, Amos Alonzo Stagg and Walter Camp, the great Yale coach. Excellent condition. 2) PROGHRAM - a four page program from the 1953 Touchdown Club of New York award presentation honoring William Heffelfinger. Excellent condition. Two items.
