The 2003 Florida Marlins defeated the New York Yankees in six games to win the World Series, giving the Yankees their second consecutive Series loss. For their winning ways, the Marlins were issued these very impressive rings. At the time, the 2003 Marlins ring was the largest championship ring ever produced, with this offered ring weighing an extraordinary 100.6 grams. This size 12 ½ gold ring was presented to former National League Rookie of the Year Todd Hollandsworth, who joined the Marlins in 2003 after coming up with the Los Angeles Dodgers and had stops with the Colorado Rockies and Texas Rangers before is lone season in Miami.

Hollandsworth played in 93 regular season games for the Fish, where he batted .254 and had 3 home runs and 20 RBI. In the postseason, Hollandsworth had a .500 average with 4 hits in 8 at-bats with a walk and 3 runs scored. This ring, presented to Hollandsworth and is a Type “A” ring is made of 14 karat white and 18 karat yellow gold with 228 white diamonds, 13 rubies and one teal diamond. The ring’s top has the eye of the marlin with a .06 carat round brilliant cut teal diamond. Bead set in the yellow gold are 98 1.0 mm to 1.8 mm round brilliant cut diamonds with a weight a total of 1.44 carats. Bead set in white gold are 130 1.0 mm to 2.7 mm round brilliant cut diamonds with an estimated total weight of 2.7 carats. Seven 2.0 mm and five 1.85 mm round faceted, transparent, dark red-purple rubies also adorn this gorgeous ring. The gem weight of this is approximately 4.75 carats and the ring weighs approximately 100.6 grams.

This provides a base for the Marlin fish, with the words “MARLINS WORLD CHAMPIONS” above and below the Marlins logo on a baseball background, all encrusted with genuine rubies and diamonds. The left shank reads "WORLD SERIES - 100th ANNIVERSARY - 2003" and features the Major League Baseball logo in blue, gold and red. Also displayed on that side are the team logos of both the Marlins and their post season opponents as well as the series score in games. The Marlins logo and “4” are on the top left, while the interlocking “NY” for the Yankees and “2” are on the top right. The bottom has “4-3” and “3-1” with the Cubs and Giants logos. The right shank features a highly detailed depiction of the Championship Trophy and lists the year "2003” and the team's regular season record "91-71” plus “HOLLANDSWORTH” and his number “14”. Along the interior of the band is "INTERGOLD" and "14K" plus “FLORIDA MARLINS 049”. The ring is NM-MT condition.
