No other baseball autobiographies are as revered or memorable as "The Babe Ruth Story" as told to Bob Considine. Millions of kids have read it since its first publication in 1948 and Ruth scholars still use it today as a valuable resource when researching the life of the game's greatest hero. This copy is the very desirable first edition of "The Babe Ruth Story" and best of all it has been signed on the title page by Ruth himself. The 10/10 blue fountain pen signature has been perfectly preserved by the surrounding pages of this famed baseball classic. Published during The Babe's final year, signed copies of the book are not plentiful and considering how ill Ruth was at the time, this book's signature is a perfect example of the great man's mark. The interior of the book is in near mint condition with a minimum of the expected age toning. The dust jacket graphics show creasing and some paper loss on the edges and spine and has been protected from further wear by a professionally applied clear plastic jacket. Ruth's "Only Authorized Story" has been further protected by an attractive custom red leather case, embossed on the cover and spine with the book's title and particulars. One of the finest signed examples of this time-honored book we have ever seen. Letter of Authenticity from PSA (Grade 9) and JSA.
