Coached by the mercurial Bobby Knight, the 1984 USA Olympic Basketball won the gold medal with a team of future NBA stars and Hall of Famers, a veritable who’s who of basketball legends. The 1984 Summer Olympics took place in Los Angeles, California from July 28th to August 12h, 1984. The team featured four of the five 1984 consensus first team All-Americans in Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Wayman Tisdale, and Sam Perkins. Jordan led the team in scoring and dazzled international audiences with his athleticism and was largely seen as a coming out party for the future star. With future Hall of Famers Ewing and Chris Mullin, the 1984 Men’s Olympic team was the last all-amateur team to win the gold medal.

Presented here is a Wilson Official basketball signed by 18 members of the US Men’s Olympic Team that took home the gold in 1984. Michael Jordan and Leon Wood signed the panel above the “Wilson” stamp in black marker. Chris Mullin signed his name in black marker on the panel, as did Charles Barkley and Chuck Person, two hopefuls who were cut from the team before the Olympic Games. Tim McCormick signed and inscribed the number “44” in black marker and was cut from the team before the start of Olympic play. John Koncak, Maurice Martin, John Stockton, Al Robertson, Lancaster Gordon all signed the ball with a black marker and were cut from the team before Olympic play. Wayman Tisdale signed and inscribed the number “23” in black marker. Terry Porter, Steve Alford, Jeff Turner and Patrick Ewing signed the ball with black marker. The ball is in excellent condition and the signatures are bold and easy to read. The signed 1984 Olympic Team basketball comes with an LOA from JSA.
