After the New York Yankees 1998 World Series victory over the San Diego Padres, team outfielder/DH Tim Raines was presented with this miniature replica of the team World Series trophy. Offered is the very Yankees championship Commissioner's trophy issued to Tim Raines following the team's 1998 Fall Classic triumph. The replica prize is set upon a 2-1/2" tall, 7"-diameter wooden base, whose surrounding gold-colored band reads "WORLD SERIES CHAMPION NEW YORK YANKEES 1998 Tim Raines." This award is the exact Commissioner's championship trophy presented to Tim Raines. Atop the black base, a gold-colored band has a silver-colored baseball at its base and a crown figure at the top. Proudly standing at the front of the display are press pins representing the two World Series teams. Surrounding the base are 30 gold-colored flags which, in alphabetical order, bear the names of each Major League team. Beginning with Anaheim on the left side and Arizona on the N.L. side, the flags gradually ascend in size from 5-1/2" to 9-3/8," and the trophy measures almost 12" tall overall and weighs almost six pounds. (NOTE: The Atlanta Braves and White Sox flags have separated from their pole as evidenced in photo.) This very trophy is the award presented to Tim Raines following the Yankees' 1998 championship. Accompanying the heirloom is a signed and notarized letter from Rachel (Hilton) Nelson indicating her connection to Raines. "I, Rachel Nelson, confirm and certify that the 1998 Tim Raines Yankees vs. Padres Player Size World Series Players Trophy was given to me as a gift by my ex-son-in-law, Tim "Rock" Raines. Tim was married to my daughter for almost 30 years." There have been other Tim Raines items and personal awards which have surfaced, but nothing quite similar to his personal World Series Trophy from the greatest team in recent baseball history, the 1998 New York Yankees who won an unprecedented 125 overall games.
