It is interesting how certain teams win one season, and with virtually the same team, they fall short other seasons. Over a full season baseball schedule, there are just too many variables complicating eventual success on the diamond. Such is the case with the early 1930s American League pennant races, which had three teams jockeying for position during a four year stretch. The vaunted New York Yankees, the powerful Philadelphia A's, and the led Washington Senators finished in the top three of the standings each season from 1930 through 1933, with the Senators capturing the '33 flag. However, despite 93 wins in 1932, literally the same exact Senators squad in 1932 finished 14 games out of first place. This impressive 9 x 24 inch panoramic photo captures that entire 1932 team in the standard photo shoot, with each player penning his name across his uniform. Below the team is Washington Base Ball Team, 1932" with the photographer name "RIDEOUT 607- 15th St. Washington, D.C. 544" in the lower right corner. Includes: Frank Ragland, Heinie Manush, Buddy Myer, Carl Reynolds, Joe Cronin, Joe Judge, Eddie Ainsmith, Walter Johnson, Moe Berg, Joe Kuhel, Sam Rice, Fred Marberry, Johnny Boyle, Bob Burke, Roy Spencer, Frank Balter (mascot), Monte Weaver, Dave Harris, Johnny Kerr, Howard Maple, Sam West, Al Schact, Ed Gharrity, Ossie Bluege, Jim McLoed, Lloyd Brown, Nick Altrock, General Crowder, Carl Fischer and Mike Martin (trainer). The photo is in tremendous condition, technically grading EX-MT with very light crazing in several areas, and a one-inch crease leading from the right edge, but the display factor grades as NM-MT. On its own merit, this is a tremendous team panoramic photo, however, the addition of the 30 signatures makes this a one-of-a-kind gem. Full LOA's from James Spence Authentication and PSA/DNA.
