The 1926 Notre Dame squad finished 9-1 and third overall in the final rankings. The Irish were shocked late in the season by Carnegie Tech, losing 19-0, with this game famous for Rockne not taking this game seriously and was ill prepared. This 9 x 13.5 inch formal team photo features the Notre Dame squad in their best uniforms, with "NOTRE DAME Middle Western Champions". Knute Rockne is dressed in his Sunday best at the far left of the middle row. A little below along the left edge is the photographer's name "Bagby Photo." This photo exhibits a few scratches and abrasions, none affecting the crispness of the professionally done image, and is affixed to a sturdy cardboard backing, which could be modified to fit any frame or display requirement. This photo is part of the collection of former player Ray Morelli, who played for Rockne in the 1925 and 1926 seasons, and whose original letterman football sweater is elsewhere in this catalog. A tremendous team photo of one of Rockne's great teams.
