Presented here is a 39 x 25-inch lithograph celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. NASCAR rose from bootlegging during the Prohibition era when drivers transported bootleg whiskey from the Appalachian region of the United States. The drivers modified their cards, increasing the speed and maneuverability of the vehicles so they could outrun law enforcement. After Prohibition ended, the drivers continued to race for monetary gain and profit in promoted races throughout the south. Mechanic and stock car racer William France Sr. moved to Daytona Beach, Florida, and brought together racers and promoters to found NASCAR in 1948. NASCAR has grown to become one of the most popular sports in the country and continually draws hundreds of thousands of fans to their 1,500 sanctioned races on over 100 tracks in North America. This presented lithograph features photos of 50 of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history and includes 34 signatures, including 7-time Winston Cup Series champion Dale “The Intimidator” Earnhardt. Earnhardt won the Daytona 500 in 1998, NASCAR’s biggest race, amongst a slew of victories and is enshrined in the NASCAR Hall of Fame.  The lithograph is also signed by Richard Petty, the five-time Winston Cup Series champion and 1981 Daytona 500 winner, and Jeff Gordon, a four-time Winston Cup Series champion and NASCAR Hall of Famer. All 34 signatures are bold and were signed with a pencil below the image of the driver and the lithograph is bright, clean, and features no cornering or edging.
